Center Split & Overlap

Add an overlap at the center to help prevent a visible gap.
A 2-inch overlap is a useful starting point.

Heading & Sewing Allowance
Add fabric for the top finish and bottom hem.
Important:
Finished curtain length is the final installed
length. Cutting length includes extra fabric for
the heading and bottom hem.
Choose the top construction.
Extra fabric reserved for the top construction.
Extra fabric reserved for the bottom hem.
Example:
A 96-inch finished curtain with a 5-inch heading
and 4-inch hem requires a 105-inch cutting length.

Pattern Repeat & Pattern Matching
Add extra fabric for patterned curtain designs.
Does your fabric have a repeating pattern?
Pattern repeats can require additional fabric because
each panel may need to start at the same point in the
design. Use the fabric manufacturer’s repeat
measurements whenever possible.
Best practice:
If your fabric has a large or expensive pattern,
use the exact vertical and horizontal repeat printed
on the fabric label. Pattern matching can significantly
increase the amount of fabric required.
